Ángela Varo is an Andalusian violinist, composer, and producer whose music bridges flamenco tradition and contemporary jazz with a distinctive and personal voice. Rooted in her cultural heritage, her work brings together Andalusian expression, improvisation, and global influences into a sound that is both grounded and forward-looking.
A graduate of Berklee College of Music and the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, Ángela has studied has performed alongside leading figures such as Danilo Pérez, Terri Lyne Carrington, John Patitucci, Joe Lovano, Kris Davis, or Brian Blade among others. She is currently a member of Danilo Perez’s Global Jazz Messengers.
Her artistic voice moves fluidly across projects, from the award-winning quintet Zambra and the Clarity String Quartet to collaborations with Califato 3/4, connecting her with iconic flamenco artists such as Lole Montoya and Ángeles Toledano. Across these settings, she contributes as both a performer and arranger, expanding the language of flamenco through new contexts.
Her debut album, Dançâ del Aire (Habitable Records), explores migration, identity, and cultural connection through a Global Jazz lens, and has been featured in interviews and media highlighting her as a rising voice in contemporary jazz and flamenco fusion.
